What to expect in a session…

  • Therapy with kids may look differently than imagined. Children utilize play to make sense of the world around them and I believe child therapy should be centered in play. We may utilize toys such as dollhouses, sand, art, dragons, monsters, dress up clothes, emergency vehicles, etc.

Due to the focus on play, therapy might be loud. You may hear anything from giggling to growling.

I love to talk about play therapy with caregivers and want to invite you into the process.

  • Middle and high school can be such challenging times. There is such a big identity shift that occurs during these ages where they are half kid and half teenager. I work with teenagers navigating traumatic experiences, identity development, anxiety, and grief and loss. We may work together to support and strengthen resilience, nervous system regulation, and emotion identification and expression. I love to incorporate art, music, and a teen’s existing interests into the work.

  • A therapy session is 50 minutes a week, they are with you and their other grown ups the rest of the week. You know your kid and I value your participation in this process. It is important to my work to have check-ins with caregivers to explore their own experience as a child, parent, and to consider the type of relationship they want with their child. I don’t pretend to have all the answers or a magic wand, but I am committed to working together.

  • Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is a modality I am trained in that serves children ages 0-5 and their caregiver(s) after a traumatic experience. It is a dyadic intervention that starts with exploring your own childhood and its impact on parenting, as well as how to support the child through making meaning from their experience. We will then enter play all together, providing the child the opportunity to process their experience and emotions with you in the room joining in the process. I’d love to talk more with you about this work to see if it may fit your needs.

Rates

I do not currently accept insurance, though will let you know if that changes.

    • $145 - 50 minute child therapy session

    • $145 - 50 minute adult/parenting therapy session

    • I do not currently bill insurance, meaning that diagnoses are not necessary to recieve the mental health support.

    • I am able to provide a Superbill which would allow you to submit to your insurance a summary of our services and attempt to have reimbursed. Superbills do require a mental health diagnosis in order for insurance to potentially cover the service. If you’d like a Superbill, let’s talk about it!
